Up North R&R

Last weekend we took a trip up north to Charlevoix for a little R&R with R&R. We had a long weekend visit with my cousin Jessa, her husband Nate and their adorable little boy Jack. Roman was so excited for the trip, he couldn't wait to get in the car and drive. The drive up went even better than we anticipated. The kids slept until we got to West Branch (where we took a little break) and then they were pretty good for the rest of the drive.

Super cool!

Our weekend was so much fun and really relaxing. We were able to reconnect with family and have a great time exploring up north. My cousin Amy and her family drove up from Colorado, it was really nice seeing her, Bryan, Eli and Silas (plus the little bun in the oven). Roman had a great time playing with all the cousins. In particular, he immediately latched on to Jordan and wanted to do everything with him. Jordan obliged and was such a great sport - he played with Roman all weekend (thanks Jord).

Ladderball, Roman's new obsession

We did a little shopping and had dinner in Petoskey on Friday. After we ate, Roman got to burn some energy in the park. He ran up and down the little hill in the park over and over again.

On Saturday, we had a bridal shower for Laura (my cousin Ben's fiance) while the guys had a golf scramble. That evening we had a family reunion cookout and campfire, complete with songs compliments of Uncle Barry and his guitar and banjo. It was nice to just sit around the fire, listening to music and looking at the stars. We can't really see the stars around metro Detroit, so even that was a treat.

You would think that the kids would be itching to get out of the car when we got home, but nope. Roman spent 5+ hours watching us drive, so he wanted to give it a chance. He even "drove" his sister around.

Thanks again for the hospitality Jessa and Nate ... we love you and are already looking forward to visiting in August!
