July 4th Weekend

We had a fun Fourth of July weekend in Battle Creek. The weather was awesome and since we were staying at Grandpa and Grandma's house, we took full advantage of their swimming pool (or at least I did). Roman wasn't totally comfortable with the idea of being in the water, but he took a few laps around the pool with a death-grasp around my neck.

The two pictures below are proof that my Dad can cook ... or at least help make a mean fruit pizza. The pizza dough was a blank canvas and using his art skills, Grandpa created a work of art (under the careful tutelage of Carl and I).

Battle Creek boasts an annual Air Show and Balloon Festival, so we were able to enjoy the Thunderbirds and a few hot air balloons while we were outside in the back yard. The Thunderbirds are quite loud, so we definitely had to make sure that Roman had his nap before the air show started.

Roman practiced his chipping skills the entire weekend. The picture below is of Roman wearing his Michael Phelps look-a-like swimsuit. It didn't get much use in the water, but maybe the PGA could look into this as a new uniform option.

Here are a few more photos from the Fourth of July. This was the first time Roman got to see some fireworks and its a good thing for him that they only make their appearance once a year (he wasn't too sure what to think about them).

On Saturday we went to the zoo with Baba, Papa and Prababa. I haven't been to the zoo in a while and now we've gone two weekends in a row! Binder Park Zoo is a really great zoo, especially their Wild Africa exhibit which has giraffes, zebras and monkeys. We were able to feed the giraffes, which have a seemingly insatiable appetite for their yummy looking wasa crackers.

A carousel ride finished off the visit to the zoo

After the zoo, we had a delicious dinner at Papa and Baba's house. Papi came over to spend some time with the great-grandkids and then everyone went out for a boat ride.

It's never too early to start exercising those legs!

Then on Sunday morning, Grandma and Carl went into the room where Roman was sleeping only to find an empty bed. After a small search party was launched, we quickly found him ...
